The Rumor became more and more tangleon what is now the biggest Pharma deal ever.
The Rumor was pumped up by reports from Bloomberg and CNBC, saying the deal could be closed on Monday, as we reported here. And now it’s official. Just a few hours ago, Pfizer announced it agrees on buying Allergan for €150Bn (!).
The goal here is to have access to the money-making Botox, save on running costs and last but not least, having the corporate headquarters in Ireland instead of New York, for its way more tax friendly environment (12.5% corporate taxes in Ireland compared to 35% in the US).
Of course, this massive transaction has still to be validated by both European and US authorities. If so, this would give Pfizer back the title of biggest Pharma company Worldwide.
